Indian Times: Community Esteem Project to Help Teen Girls (Jun 13, 2008)
This week on Indian Times, host Susan Shannon speaks with Maya Torralba from the Kiowa, Wichita and Comanche Tribes of Oklahoma. She's beginning a program called the Community Esteem Project, which will help teenage, native girls cope with the problems of urban Indian life and get their educations. We'll get an update on the landmark Cobell v. Kempthorne class action lawsuit, which charges the US Government with mishandling billions of dollars in Indian Trust accounts. It began last Monday in Washington, D.C.
