Indian Times: Diabetes Conference to address medical and financial needs in Indian Country (Oct 27, 2008)
This week on Indian Times, the Oklahoma Inter-Tribal Diabetes Coalition Summit 2008 will take place in the Forum Building on the University of Oklahoma campus on Wednesday. Host Susan Shannon speaks with Darryl Tonemah about this unusual conference that will address not only the medical but the financial aspects of diabetes care in Oklahoma. And we go to the opening of the new exhibit at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. Its called “Unconquered: Allan Houser and the Legacy of One Apache Family.” This show for the first time combines the work of Houser and two of his sons, Bob and Philip Haozous. We’ll hear from Dr. Bob Blackburn and Philip Haozous, who was there for the opening. Also in attendance was his 93 year old mother, Anna Marie Houser.
