Indian Times: Cherokee Nation May Join In Lawsuit Against Poultry Producers (Dec 22, 2008)
This week on Indian Times, KGOU’s Kurt Gwartney reports on the Cherokee Nation possibly joining in on a lawsuit against poultry producers. The issue is whether or not there has been contamination of the watershed.

President-Elect Barack Obama is attempting to keep campaign promises made to Native Americans by creating a new post called First Americans Public Liaison. Wizipan Garriott, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, has been appointed to this new post. Garriott is the seventh Native American to be a part of the new administration. The other six include John Echohawk, who is an attorney, Executive Director of the Native American Rights Fund and a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. Echohawk was also a part of the Clinton transition team.

University of Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford (pictured above) becomes the first Native American to win the Heisman Trophy.
