Indian Times: Interview with Native American Times editor Lisa Snell (May 11, 2009)
This week on Indian Times, we continue our series on native newspapers here in Oklahoma. This week its Native American Times. We?ll hear from its new owner/editor, Lisa Snell. Snell is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

Upcoming native events:
The 5th and final installment of the PBS series ?We Shall Remain? airs on OETA Monday night at 8pm. This episode is about the 1973 occupation of Wounded Knee, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. This was a 71 day stand-off between the FBI and members of the American Indian Movement, better known as AIM. What this episode also tries to stress is that Wounded Knee was a coming together of young people from many different tribes from across the nation, and many from Oklahoma.
The University of Oklahoma?s American Indian Academic Achievement Celebration takes place this Friday at 4pm at the Donald Reynolds Performing Arts Center on the OU campus in Norman. For more information call Lindy Waters at 325-1468

The Southwest Oklahoma Vietnam Veteran?s Celebration will take place in Wichita Tribal Park in Anadarko, OK. It?s a three day powwow, May 29th thru the 31st.
