Indian Times: US Supreme Court Turns Down Lawsuit (Jan 21, 2010)
This week on Indian Times, offensive or not, the US Supreme Court decides to not hear an appeal on the pro football team Washington Redskins name and trademark, due to a legal loophole called �laches�. We speak with lead plaintiff Suzan Shown Harjo (Cheyenne/Hodulgee Muscogee) about why its actually a good thing for the new pending lawsuit. University of Oklahoma graduate Marcus Briggs-Cloud, who is from the Miccosukee Tribe of the Muscogee Nation, is one of the plaintiffs in the new lawsuit.
The Oklahoma City Zoo transfers the property lease of Remington Park to the Chickasaw Nation.
The Peoria Tribe receive a $105,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for surface water sampling.
