Indian Times: $1 Billion in stimulus money to go to tribes (Feb 13, 2010)
This week on Indian Times, there will be $1 billion in stimulus funds made available for tribes across the nation, including the Delaware Nation of Oklahoma.
Former Deputy Chief of the Cherokee Nation Hastings Shade passes away, his funeral was Friday at Sequoya Schools. Shade was declared a Cherokee National Treasure in 1991 for his extensive traditional knowledge.
Oklahoma Senate President Glenn Coffee introduces a bill that would allow large cities and Native American tribes to authorize charter schools.
In honor of Black History month, the Smithsonian Institution in conjunction with the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Museum of African American History and Culture, have put together an exhibition called ?Indivisible, African-Native American Lives in the Americas?.
