Indian Times: Competitive Swimmer Caitlyn Baker (Sep 10, 2010)
This week on Indian Times, the Southern Winds Film Festival took place last weekend in Shawnee. Amongst the many films being shown was one about a group of Sioux Indians from Pine Ridge Reservation who decide to take part in a week-long program that challenges them to change their lives. At week's end, they must make the swim from Alcatraz to the shore of San Francisco, its called "From the Badlands To Alcatraz." Oklahoma Native Caitlyn Baker (Muscogee Creek) has made that swim and she talks about the experience. Baker is a junior at Mt. St. Marys High School in Oklahoma City. She has been a competitive swimmer since she was 9 years old.
