Seeking an Explanation for Oklahoma’s Ongoing Drought (Feb 14, 2006)
The fire danger in Oklahoma has worsened again in recent days, with about 500 acres burning in Norman and Noble late last week, wildfires over the weekend burning near Shawnee and closing portions of I-35 in southern Cleveland County, and half a dozen blazes around the metro yesterday that investigators say appear to have been intentionally set. Freezing temperatures and a chance of snow forecast for later this week are expected to give firefighters a bit of a break, but the underlying dry conditions are expected to continue through the spring. KGOU seeks a scientific explanation from Mike Foster, Meteorologist in Charge at the National Weather Service’s Norman Forecast Office (4 minutes).
