US-DOT Ruling Could Delay I-40 Crosstown Construction (Nov 16, 2005)
A branch of the US Department of Transportation has issued an order preventing demolition of a three-mile stretch of rail line that would be destroyed in the construction of the new Crosstown Expressway. Line owners BNSF and Stillwater Central had sought permission to abandon the line because they claimed it was not used by local businesses. But Washington transportation attorney Fritz Kahn, who represents opponents of the demolition, disputes that. ODOT Director Gary Ridley downplays the significance of the ruling. Guests: Attorney Fritz Kahn and ODOT Director Gary Ridley (4 minutes).
