Roads and Bridges: How Did The Situation Get This Bad? (Sep 01, 2005)
Last month, a national transportation research group assigned letter grades to several components of Oklahoma's highway system. The state received a D for road and highway conditions, an F for the condition of its bridges, a D+ for traffic safety and a C+ for traffic congestion. Those results were hardly surprising to most Oklahomans, who've been hearing about the poor state of roads and bridges for years. The question many Oklahomans are asking is "Just how did the situation get this bad?" For answers, we turn to ODOT Director Gary Ridley and Neal McCaleb of the group Oklahomans for Safe Bridges and Roads. (4 minutes)
