Oklahoma Immigrants Take Part in National Day of Protest (May 02, 2006) Mostly Hispanic immigrants and supporters of immigrant rights staged local events yesterday as part of the nationwide “Day Without Immigrants” protest. Organizers held a daylong vigil at the state capitol, rallies and prayer services in Tulsa and an evening march through Oklahoma City’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Also, the Oklahoma Chapter of the Minutemen planned a counter-protest in Tulsa. Guests: Ed Romo, VP of Civil Rights with the Oklahoma City chapter of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) and State Representative Rebecca Hamilton (D-OKC) (4:00).
