Film Screened in OKC Highlights Effects of Credit Card Debt (Jun 09, 2006)
The sixth annual deadCENTER film festival officially opened in Oklahoma City last night. Now through Sunday, moviegoers will screen dozens of independent features, short films and documentaries from across the country and around the world. The festival kicked off at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Noble Theater with a screening of Maxed Out, filmmaker James Scurlock’s documentary about the credit card industry and the effects of debt on American society. Among the people he interviewed are Trisha Johnson and Janne O’Donnell, two Oklahoma mothers whose college-aged children committed suicide because of massive credit card debt (4:00).
