Oklahoma Lawmakers Support Real ID Act (Mar 21, 2007)
Oklahomans can use their old driver's licenses for just under three more years before having to switch to a nationally standardized ID, thanks to a federal mandate called the Real ID Act. Since the law passed Congress in 2005, it has faced protest from more than 20 states, including Oklahoma. However, as Todd Zwillich reports from Capitol Hill, Oklahoma lawmakers in the US Congress are staunch supporters of the system. Guests include US Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff; Senator Tom Coburn; Jim Harper, Director of Information Studies at Cato Institute and US Representatives Frank Lucas and Tom Cole (4:00).
