Plans for MG Auto Plant in Ardmore Now Uncertain (Mar 30, 2007)
Chinese carmaker Nanjing Automobile Corporation this week revived production of the British MG sports coupe at its plant in China. But the company's future plans to begin assembling MGs at a plant in Ardmore, Oklahoma were cast into doubt after an employee told NPR, "I don't believe there's anything on the table at the moment with Oklahoma."

State and company representatives reacted swiftly, saying that the individual quoted was not a high-ranking official and did not speak on behalf of Nanjing. View the statement from the State of Oklahoma, Greater OKC Chamber of Commerce, City of OKC and Ardmore Development Authority, and see the response from Marc Nuttle of Oklahoma Global Motors, LLC, one of the major investment partners in MG North America.

Now KGOU has received new information that seems to indicate that the future of the proposed auto plant remains in jeopardy, despite assurances to the contrary. NAC MG President Yu Jianwei has said in an interview with NPR obtained by KGOU that the facility "won't necessarily be built" and that the scope of the company's cooperation with its American partners may have undergone some changes.
