Private Pilots Fight Proposed Tax on Small Airplanes (Jul 24, 2007) As home to hundreds of aerospace firms, Oklahoma helps the US stand on the cutting edge of aviation technology. But the country’s air traffic control system hasn’t been updated since the 1950s. Congress wants to raise money to modernize the system by imposing new fees and taxes on small airplanes, but some Oklahoma lawmakers aren’t so wild about that idea.
