OU, OSU Demand Pro-744 Group Stop Using Logos (Oct 09, 2010)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The state's two largest universities are demanding that a group promoting a ballot measure to increase education spending stop using their logos in an advertisement.

The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University sent Yes on 744 a letter on Friday asking the group to cease and desist from broadcasting "the misleading YES ON 744 advertisement in any form."

State Question 744 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would require Oklahoma within three years to meet the regional average of per-student spending in surrounding states. It will be on the November ballot.

The ad in question has been pulled from circulation on television but remains available for viewing online. The Yes on 744 group has maintained that the university logos are publicly owned and available for fair use.
