Askins, Fallin Face Each Other in Final Forum (Oct 29, 2010)

The two women wanting to succeed Brad Henry as the next governor of Oklahoma met Thursday night in their final forum of the campaign.

The candidates answered a variety of questions, including what their first 100 days in office would look like.

Toward the end of the hour-long question and answer session, Republican Congresswoman Mary Fallin and Democratic Lt. Gov. Jari Askins were asked how their first 100 days in office would affect the lives of Oklahomans, especially those hurting in the down economy.

Fallin said she would stick by her proposal to carry out reforms intended to retain jobs and attract new ones.

Askins says there is no “silver bullet” that would solve the problems of all Oklahomans, but she said focusing on the budget is a top priority. She also says she will not balance the budget at the expense of children and senior citizens who need help.

Voters will decide the winner of the race Tuesday.
