TV Reports: Two Children Dead in Norman House Fire (Nov 02, 2010)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — A Norman fire official says five people have been hospitalized after a house fire, and broadcast reports say two children died in the early-morning blaze.

Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey says a 46-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, a 7-year-old male and a 2-year-old female were taken early Tuesday to Norman Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. He says an 18-year-old female also was taken to the hospital.

Oklahoma City television stations are reporting the two children died from their injuries but a hospital spokeswoman would not say if the children are dead.

Bailey says firefighters were called out to the blaze at 4:20 a.m. after the 18-year-old female had climbed out of a window and called authorities. Bailey says firefighters pulled the other four people from the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation although Bailey says it doesn't appear suspicious.
