Injured Eagle Recovering Near Norman (Nov 15, 2010)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — A bald eagle that was injured when it crashed into a tractor-trailer rig is recovering at WildCare wildlife center near Norman.

WildCare director Rondi Large says the eagle suffered a broken leg and broken wing. Large told The Norman Transcript the bird is awake after undergoing surgery and appears to be comfortable.

The eagle was injured last Thursday when it hit and broke the windshield of the rig on the Indian Nation Turnpike in Pittsburg County. A game warden rescued it and brought it to WildCare on Friday.

Large said the eagle will likely remain at WildCare through the winter and could be released during spring.
