Sen. Inhofe: Obama Administration 'Nearly Lets Terrorist Go Free' (Nov 18, 2010)

Oklahoma U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe on Thursday blasted the Obama administration for what he says is a "rejection of the military’s tribunal system.”

Inhofe’s statement came on the heels of the verdict in the civilian trial of Ahmed Ghailani. A New York City jury on Wednesday acquitted the Guantanamo detainee of all but one charge accusing him of a deadly 1998 plot to bomb U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya.

Inhofe says he is concerned that suspected terrorists could circumvent justice with President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder’s push for civilian trials.

The senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee argued that a military tribunal is the best way to present classified information and present evidence against people he calls "enemy combatants, not common criminals.”
