FREDERICK, Okla. (AP) — The president of the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association says as much as 25 million pounds of pecans could be harvested this year in Oklahoma.

Charles Rohl, who is an assistant professor at the Noble Foundation in Ardmore, leads the state pecan group and tells the Lawton Constitution that southwestern Oklahoma's pecan crop has been limited the past two years because of April freezes and disease issues.

He says that even though "this is technically an off-year" pecan production in the state will be above average. He says prices are at a record high and "as a whole it's looking really good for all the pecan producers in the state."

Rohla will be in Frederick on Wednesday for the annual Southwest Oklahoma Pecan and Pecan Food Show.
