McCurtain County has Jobless Rate Over 10 Percent (Dec 07, 2010)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Five eastern counties posted the highest unemployment rates in Oklahoma in October.

According to statistics released Tuesday by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, McCurtain County, located in the southeastern tip of the state, had the highest jobless rate - 10.2 percent. Hughes and Latimer counties both had unemployment rates of 9.9 percent, and LeFlore, Okmulgee and Sequoyah counties recorded unemployment rates of 9.8 percent.

The lowest unemployment rates were 3.5 percent in Beaver County, 3.8 percent in Cimarron and Harper counties and 3.9 percent in Roger Mills County.

The unemployment rate for the state was 6.9 percent.
