Pope Names Kansas-based Bishop for OKC (Dec 16, 2010) VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican says Pope Benedict XVI has chosen a Kansas-based bishop to lead the Oklahoma City archdiocese. Bishop Paul Stagg Coakley, who has led the Salina diocese since 2004, will replace 76-year-old Archbishop Eusebius Joseph Beltran, who is retiring. The 55-year-old Coakley is a Virginia native who was ordained in 1983 for the Wichita, Kansas, diocese, where he served in several parishes and posts, including chaplain of St. Francis Medical Center. « back |
