New High Temperature Records Set (Dec 21, 2010)

Unseasonably warm air has led to new temperature records being set or tied in Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service says the mercury peaked at 77 degrees in Oklahoma City Monday afternoon, setting a new record for a Dec. 20 maximum temperature. The old record was 73 degrees, reached on the same day in 1966.

The temperature in Tulsa tied a record set on Dec. 20, 1966. Forecasters say the high on Monday there was 79 degrees.
