Ceremonial Swearing-in for Lankford Set (Dec 31, 2010)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK) will administer the oath of office to U.S. Rep.-elect James Lankford (R-OK) the day before Lankford takes office.

Lankford says the ceremonial swearing-in will be held Jan. 4 in the House Agriculture Committee hearing room in the Longworth House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Lucas, the dean of Oklahoma's congressional delegation, will be the incoming chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and offered the room to Lankford to use for the event.

The official swearing-in for the 112th Congress will take place on Jan. 5 in the House chambers in the Capitol building, but seating for that ceremony is limited to two persons per member.
