Indian Times: INDN's List is closing its offices. (Jan 01, 2011)

This week on Indian Times,  INDN’s List, a grassroots Native American organization that recruited and supported native candidates, is shutting down. The Cheyenne and Arapaho’s governor and lieutenant governor are having a dispute, and Oklahoma loses its oldest person.
Upcoming native events:
-January 8th, the Oklahoma City Powwow Club will hold its annual New Years Dance in the Centennial Building on the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.  For more information call Yonavea Hawkins at 405-919-1572.
-The Cherokee Nation is offering 2 free training workshops on January 6 and 7 designed to improve the quality of care given to children with special needs. The first workshop, “No, Not My Child” is aimed at parents, grandparents or guardians of developmentally challenged children. The 2nd workshop “Teaching Children with Special needs” is directed towards teachers, school administrators, counselors and para-professionals.  Both workshops will be held at the Tulsa Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Catoosa.  Attendees must apply by January 4th, for information call 918-453-5300.
