Fallin Names State Energy Secretary, CIO (Jan 05, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma Governor-elect Mary Fallin on Wednesday announced she would retain Alex Pettit as the chief information officer for Oklahoma.

Pettit was named as the state’s first chief information officer in 2010 after the cabinet level position was created by the legislature in 2009.

Fallin said Pettit already has helped streamline some state operations leading to cost savings. She said she looks forward to working with Pettit to find and eliminate more government inefficiencies.

Fallin also on Wednesday selected Mike Ming as state secretary of energy.

Ming has served in a variety of capacities in the energy industry, including as V.P. of production for Oklahoma City-based Bracken Energy Company and V.P. of engineering at K. Stewart Petroleum Corporation, also in Oklahoma City.

In 2009, he was appointed as a member of the Oklahoma Clean Energy Independence Commission.
