Fallin Names OSU Official Secretary of Environment (Jan 14, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Gov. Mary Fallin has appointed an Oklahoma State University official and former lawmaker as the state's new secretary of environment.

Fallin selected Gary Sherrer for the post on Friday.

A former state representative from southeast Oklahoma, Sherrer previously served as secretary of the environment under former Gov. Frank Keating and was secretary of agriculture under former Gov. David Walters.

Sherrer currently works as assistant vice president for external relations in OSU's Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Fallin said Sherrer will remain employed by the university.
