Coburn Report on Job Training Programs (Feb 09, 2011)

U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) released report Wednesday morning he says highlights example of waste, fraud, and mismanagement in federal job training programs.

Oklahoma's junior U.S. Senator and well-known deficit hawk’s “Help Wanted” report highlights a 4 million dollar weatherization program in New Jersey that led to jobs for only 7 of the 184 workers trained in the program and a Labor Department official sentenced for approving false invoices for Job Corps contractor in exchange for monetary bribes and a vehicle.

Coburn's report accompanies a Government Accountability Office report also slated for release Wednesday that shows federal agencies spent $18 billion in Fiscal Year 2009 on programs the GAO could not conclude had any meaningful benefit.
