Two Deaths Confirmed in Latest Winter Storm (Feb 10, 2011) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says two fatalities have been attributed to the latest winter storm to hit the state. The state Medical Examiner's office confirmed Thursday that 62-year-old Larry Russell died when the propane heater he was using to stay warm caught fire Tuesday at his mobile home in McLoud. In Okmulgee County, a 56-year-old Beggs man was found dead in the snow. Medical Examiner's office spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard says the man's vehicle slipped off a road during Wednesday's storm. Ballard says the man's name hasn't been released and a cause of death is pending. The Oklahoma State Department of Health says there have been 240 storm-related injuries reported at hospitals throughout the state. Of that number, 174 were attributed to falls and 33 to transportation-related accidents. « back |
