NE Oklahoma School Re-Opening (Feb 14, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Schools in the Tulsa area are reopening after being shut down for nearly two weeks because of winter storms that dumped heavy snow in northeastern Oklahoma.

Many schools in the region have been closed since the first heavy snow on Feb. 1. Another storm system brought more snow last Tuesday and Wednesday.

School officials now face figuring out a way to make up for the lost class time. Among the options are adding days to the end of the school year, increasing the amount of time students are in class each day and holding class during previously scheduled breaks or holidays.

Oklahoma law requires either 175 class days or 1,050 hours of instruction time.
