Okla. Guard Farewell Ceremony in Downtown OKC (Feb 16, 2011)

Thousands of friends, family and well wishers are expected in downtown Oklahoma City today as 32-hundred Oklahoma National Guard members prepare for deployment to Afghanistan.

Today’s ceremonies are split between the Cox Convention Center and Oklahoma City Arena due to the large number of people expected to attend.

Here are the details for how that’s divided: The ceremony for the 160th Field Artillery, 179th Infantry, 279th Infantry, 180th Cavalry, 700th Brigade Support Battalion and 146th Air Support Operation Squadron will be at the OKC Arena.

The ceremony for the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and the Oklahoma Stabilization Transition Teams is at the Convention Center. Doors at both venues are supposed to open at 9:30 this morning… with the ceremonies beginning at 11:30.
