More Temperature Records Set in Oklahoma (Feb 18, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A week after setting records for cold temperatures, record warmth is being recorded in Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service says a new record high temperature was set at Will Rogers World Airport when the mercury peaked at 80 degrees on Thursday. The previous record of 79 degrees was set in 1991.

The weather service says the minimum temperature in Oklahoma City early Thursday was 58 degrees, breaking the previous 1991 record of 50 degrees.

Forecasters say Tulsa tied a record high temperature of 79 degrees set in 1907.

The weather service said Bartlesville reached a new record high temperature of 82 degrees, three degrees warmer than the 79 degrees reported in 1907.

Last week, the mercury plunged to minus 28 at Bartlesville. A low of minus 31 in Nowata broke a state record of minus 27 degrees.
