Treasurer Names Panel to Oversee Investments (Feb 28, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A new five-member advisory panel led by former state Treasurer Scott Meacham has been appointed to oversee Oklahoma's $5 billion investment portfolio.

New Republican state Treasurer Ken Miller met with the newly appointed committee on Monday. He says the goal is for the panel to examine the state's investments and make recommendations to maximize returns. Miller says the state is expected to earn $92 million on its investments during the current fiscal year.

Meacham, a Democrat, will chair the committee. Other members are Bob Neville of BancFirst; former Federal Reserve economist Gordon Sellon; George Kaiser Family Foundation chief investment officer Robert Thomas; and Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System executive director James Wilbanks.

Miller says the panel is expected to meet monthly for the next year.
