Attorney: Investigative Panel 'Secret Commission' (Feb 28, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An attorney for a state lawmaker accused of bribery who is under investigation by a legislative committee says he will not participate in the process until it is open to the public.

Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore was charged with bribery in December. Prosecutors allege Terrill was part of a scheme to give former Democratic state Sen. Debbe Leftwich an $80,000-per-year state job in exchange for her not seeking re-election so Rep. Mike Christian of Oklahoma City could run for the seat.

A bipartisan state House committee is investigating Terrill. But his attorney, Stephen Jones of Enid, has written a letter to the committee's attorney that says it is a "secret commission." Jones says its rules are "one-sided" and that Terrill will not cooperate until its proceedings become public.
