Norman Voters Approve Trash Rate Hike (Mar 02, 2011)

Norman voters approved a sanitation service rate increase Tuesday. They had turned down a similar, but larger proposal back in August.

Nearly two-thirds of those voting approved the $2.50 monthly price hike. The new rates are supposed to begin April 1.

In Norman City Council elections, Roger Gallagher will represent Ward 1 and Dave Spaulding is the winner in Ward 5.

The Ward 7 race is headed for a runoff.

Election officials say Linda Lockett won the most votes for that office, but the two other candidates, Stephen Tyler Holman and Brande M. Kauffman, tied at 89 votes each.

The Cleveland County Election Board says there is a provisional ballot in that election that hasn’t been counted yet.
