State Cattle Ranchers Face Hay Shortage (Mar 21, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Agriculture officials in Oklahoma say the state's cattle ranchers are running out of food for their livestock and anyone with hay for sale is encouraged to list their supplies online.

State Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Market Development Coordinator Johnny Roberts says ranchers increased their use of hay for cattle during the blizzard and snow storms of the winter. He says the current dry weather and grass fires have depleted or destroyed pastures and some ranchers are in danger of running out of food for their cattle,

Anyone with hay for sale can have the supplies listed at no cost by contacting the department.
