Landfill in Morgan Indictment Not Yet Built (Mar 31, 2011) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — What is believed to be the landfill referenced in a federal indictment of former Oklahoma state Senate President Pro Tem Mike Morgan and two others hasn't yet been built. But a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality said Thursday a permit is pending with that agency's top official. An administrative law judge recommended in January that the permit be granted. The indictment alleges Morgan was paid more than $141,000 over three years by a company that wanted to build a solid waste landfill in northern Oklahoma. Dilworth Development Co. has applied to build such a landfill in Kay County and is seeking a permit. Dilworth spokesman Mike Wofford says the company has fully cooperated with an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department and the FBI. « back |
