At Least 1 Tornado Touches Down in NE Oklahoma (Apr 14, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Severe thunderstorms have produced at least one tornado that caused damage near a small northeast Oklahoma town.

Osage County deputy emergency management director Adrian Horn says spotters saw a twister touched down near Hominy Thursday afternoon. Horn said she had preliminary reports that the storm knocked down telephone poles and damaged trees and fences.

She said there were no reports of injuries.

Horn said officials were trying to confirm whether a tornado also touched down near Burbank.

Tornado warnings also were issued for Garvin, Murray and Pontotoc counties. Officials in those counties say there were no immediate reports that any tornadoes touched down.
