Race and the University: George Henderson (May 22, 2011)

George Henderson became the University of Oklahoma’s third African American professor in 1967. In February of this year, he told members of the Oklahoma Historical Society about his decision to move to Norman from Detroit, and the results of his experience in the state. On this episode of Oklahoma Voices, we hear Henderson talk about his memoir, Race and the University.

Special thanks to the staff, especially Michael Dean, of the Oklahoma History Center for recording the presentation and making it available to KGOU. You can find links an interview that aired on OETA.
