Possible Tornado Leaves Damage South of Norman (May 24, 2011)

GOLDSBY, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a possible tornado damaged homes south of Norman but they don't have any immediate reports of injuries.

Goldsby Emergency Management Director Greg Giltner says he saw extensive damage to homes in a housing addition along Oklahoma Highway 74 and Chestnut Road Tuesday afternoon. Giltner says there has been damage to another housing addition but officials can't get to it because of downed power lines in the area.

The National Weather Service hasn't confirmed a tornado, but television footage showed an apparent tornado moving through the area. At least one home had been heavily damaged and debris was scattered throughout the area near Norman.

Riverwind Casino spokeswoman Kym Koch says there were no reports of injuries or damage to the casino or Newcastle Gaming in nearby Newcastle.
