Senate Re-Districting Costs Top House Spending (May 30, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's Senate spent more than $29,000 more than the state House did during the redistricting process.

The Tulsa World reports that according to information provided by both chambers, the 48-member Senate spent $204,347 while the 101-member House spent $175,062.

Changes in legislative districts are bases on population shifts noted in the U.S. Census, which takes place every 10 years.

More than half of the Senate's costs went to pay Karl Ahlgren, a Republican political consultant who was paid $127,500.
