Indian Times: EPA Sets Up New Committee on Toxins in Indian Country (Jun 03, 2011)

This week on Indian Times, the Environmental Protection Agency has set up a National Tribal Toxics Committee…the Absentee Shawnee tribe has opened a new branch of the AllNations Bank…the Chickasaw Nation open a new preservation center.

Next Saturday, June 11th,  the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic will be having its “Walk for Wellness” at Route 66 Park.  Route 66 Park is located on the west side of Lake Overholser at 9901 NW 23rd St in Oklahoma City.  Registration begins at 8am and is a free event open to the public.  For more information on this event contact the Wellness Center at the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic, their phone number is 948-4900, ext. 168.
The 37th annual Muscogee Creek Nation Festival has events lined up thru June 26 at the Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee, including cultural demonstrations, an All-Indian Rodeo and concerts.  Official kickoff is June 23rd with a concert featuring Joe Dee Messina.  Saturday’s lineup starts at 7pm with the Native American Group The Plateros followed by Dennis DeYoung and Styx.  All events are free and open to the public.  For more information go to their website www.muscogeenation-nsn.gov.
