House Comptroller Dismissed, Staffers Resign (Jun 06, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A financial officer for the Oklahoma House has been dismissed in what House officials describe as a personnel matter.

Officials say former comptroller Craig Sanger was dismissed last week. In a statement, House Speaker Kris Steele says Sanger's departure was "an isolated personnel matter" and that officials are actively looking for a new comptroller.

A telephone call to a number listed for Sanger in Norman was not immediately returned Monday.

In addition, chief clerk Joel Kintsel and general counsel Amy Alden are leaving the House. Steele spokesman John Estus says Kintsel is taking a position at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a conservative think tank. Estus says he does not know Alden's plans to seek other employment.

Steele says deputy clerk Jan Harrison is being promoted to chief clerk.
