deadCenter Rocks! (Jun 07, 2011)

The deadCENTER Film Festival launches Wednesday, June 8th at 9:30pm with the much anticipated public screening of Talihina Sky, the story of Kings Of Leon, one of today’s biggest Rock ‘n Roll acts who’s story is traced back to Talihini, Oklahoma where they gathered for a family reunion.

“10 years ago I witnessed the creation of this family band in their mother’s Tennessee garage. Even then, I was fascinated by their strict Pentecostal upbringing and the eccentric and colorful characters that make up their family,” said Director Stephen Mitchell. “There was no doubt in my mind that they would become one of the biggest rock bands in the world. My goal with this film was to document the roots of their music and how rock-n-roll transformed their lives. I am proud and honored to share the story of Kings of Leon.”

The 2011 deadCENTER Film Festival is June 8 – 12 at seven locations in downtown Oklahoma City.

Founded in 2001, the non-profit deadCENTER Film Festival – named for its central geographic location — has grown to become a significant international event designed to promote and celebrate Independent film-making. MovieMaker magazine listed DCFF as one of the world’s top 20 "coolest" festivals.
