2 Firefighters Hurt While Battling Grass Fire (Jun 20, 2011)

ANADARKO, Okla. (AP) — Firefighters have contained a large blaze in Caddo County that slightly injured two firefighters and destroyed two homes.

Caddo County Emergency Management Director Larry McDuffey said fire crews began battling the blaze near Anadarko about noon on Sunday and got it contained by Monday afternoon. He said high winds have helped rekindle the flames.

McDuffey says two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, but there were no other reports of injuries. He says the blaze has destroyed two homes, one of which was vacant.

At least 300 acres have burned.

Winds of 25 mph to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph have been blowing across the state. Temperatures have been running above average for several days, ranging from the middle 90s to low 100s.
