Okla. Senate OKs 29 Topics for Interim Studies (Jun 22, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Senate will examine issues ranging from teenage "sexting" to capital bond proposals in a series of more than two dozen studies during the interim legislative session.

Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman announced committee assignments on Tuesday for 29 interim studies that he approved.

Lawmakers will convene before the session starts in February to examine a broad range of issues, including breast cancer prevention, workers' compensation and the privatization of state parks.

House leaders are expected to approve about 50 of the 129 interim studies requested in the House by early next month.

Committee members who serve on interim study panels receive mileage reimbursement and $25 per day for meals if they live more than 50 miles from the state Capitol.
