Lawyer: Warden's Wife Beaten, Raped by Inmate (Jul 05, 2011)

MANGUM, Okla. (AP) — A defense attorney says the wife of a former prison warden was kidnapped, beaten and repeatedly raped by a convicted killer she is accused of helping escape.

Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of Bobbi Parker, whom prosecutors allege helped Randolph Dial break out of the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite on Aug. 30, 1994. Defense attorney Garvin Isaacs told Parker's jury that she will testify in her own defense and tell them what actually happened.

Prosecutors allege that Parker fell in love with Dial and ran off with him. But Isaacs says Dial drugged her, taped her up and threw her into the back of the family's van, which she had driven out of the prison.

Opening statements will continue Wednesday morning in Greer County District Court.
