About 500 Acres Burned in Grass Fire (Jul 11, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — No injuries or structural damage have been reported in several grass fires in parts of Oklahoma.

One fire consumed about 500 acres in south-central Oklahoma, and another burned near the Cooper Wildlife Management Area in the northwest part of the state.

Love County Emergency Management Director Tracey Smithwick said Monday a fire began near Rubottom on Friday and rekindled on Saturday and Sunday. Smithwick said about 500 acres burned, but there were no reports of injuries or structural damage.

In southwest Oklahoma City, crews contained a fire that burned near some homes. Fire Battalion Chief Brian Stanaland says no injuries or property damage had been reported.

In Woodward County, a fire burned near the Cooper Wildlife Management Area between Woodward and Fort Supply. No injuries were reported with the fire.
