OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma National Guard has announced the death of a fourth soldier from the state this week.

A news release from the guard says 24-year-old Sgt. Anthony Del Mar Peterson of Chelsea was killed Thursday while on patrol in Paktia Province. Peterson was an infantryman with Company B, 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry that deployed to Afghanistan in June as part of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

Also killed in Afghanistan this week were Lt. Jered Ewy of Edmond, Spc. Augustus Vicari of Broken Arrow and Staff Sgt. Kirk Owen of Sapulpa.

Oklahoma National Guard Maj. Gen. Myles Deering said in the news release that Peterson was an exceptional soldier and that "Oklahoma has lost another brave son."
